26 August - 9 September, 2009, Shota Rustaveli Institute of Georgian Literature hosted British scientist Doctor Jonatan Roper.

 

The research visit was realized under the agreement with the Academies of Eastern and Central Europe and supported by the Folklore Archives of Shota Rustaveli Institute of Georgian literature.

 

Dr. Jonatan Roper's research visit was implemented in the following stages:

 

- Meeting with the president of the Georgian Academy, Academician Thomas Gamkrelidze.

 

- Acquaintame with the work of the Folklore Archives of Shota Rustaveli Institute of Georgian Literature, sharing of experience.

 

- Four-day (27.08.09-31.08.09) Folklore expedition in Kakheti region, Kvareli and Telavi districts supported by the Folklore Archives of Shota Rustaveli Institute of Georgian Literature (Archives of Photos).

 

- Digitalization and translation into English of the folklore (1-8 September) recorded in Adjara in 2006 and in Kakheti in August 2009.

 

- 7 September,

 

11:30, Meeting with the director of Shota Rustaveli Institute of Georgian Literature professor Irma Ratiani;

  

13:00, Dr. Jonatan roper held a lecture at Shota Rustaveli Institute of Georgian Literature on topics: 1) :Georgian Charm (according the materials of field work in Adjara in 2006)", 2) "Modern European Folkloristic, Achievements and Goals".
