"Description of the Manuscripts Kept in the Folklore Archive"

(Institute project. 2006-2012)

The project examines the manuscripts kept in the folklore archive making their description and catalogization.

The project is actual for two points:

  1. There existed mutually exclusive information about the number of the manuscripts of the archive;

  2. Scientific society had no information about some important manuscripts.

According to the project the following work was done:

  • Division of the texts into big parts: for example: old fund, new fund, Matsaberidze fond;

  • Was worked out and defined the scheme of the systematization;

  • According to the given scheme was done description of the manuscripts;

  • Described texts were put on the computer;

  • The texts were edited;

  • The catalogue was printed;

Realization of the project helped:

  • To improve the information about the manuscripts kept in the archive.

  • To improve condition of using the manuscripts for publishing;

  • To develop electronic data base.

In 2011 the folklore archive continues working on the project. The archive of Petre Umikashvili is under the systematization and at the and the catalogue will be printed in the full form.
